Part of The Musk Algorithm: A 5-Step Process
04 Operating Principles Play

Simplify and Optimize After Deletion

Only after deleting do you simplify. Most systems are needlessly complex.

Simplify and organize after deletion

Simplification comes only after deletion. Musk hates over-complication and believes most systems are needlessly complex.

01 Delete first Remove unnecessary steps, components, and processes.
02 Simplify second Make remaining elements as simple as possible.
03 Optimize third Improve the performance of the simplified system.

Neuralink. The brain chip was simplified from bulky devices to thread-like implants, which enabled human trials from 2024 and 21 implanted patients across four countries by early 2026.

xAI. Grok was simplified toward “truth-seeking” instead of bloated models, and reached a mass audience fast through its X integration.

Apply it. After deleting, map your processes with flowcharts and aim for 30% fewer steps.
